Today is National Panchayati Raj Day; PM Modi to visit Mandla in MP

National Panchayati Raj Day is observed on 24th April every year. It was inaugurated by then PM Manmohan Singh in 2010. He laid emphasis on the importance of the Panchayati Raj. It is 8th year of its inauguration and PM Narendra Modi will visit Mandla in Madhya Pradesh. In the event, he will address the Panchayati Raj representatives across the country and will also launch the Rashtriya Gramin Swaraj Abhiyan.

What are the other events to be held?
During the visit, PM will reveal the Road Map for overall development of tribals during the next five years. The other things in the agenda are unveiling a plaque to mark the laying of foundation stone of an LPG bottling plant of Indian Oil Corporation at Maneri, Mandla District and launching a Local Government Directory.

PM would also felicitate the Sarpanches of the villages for supporting the pledge of clean and healthy India. These Sarpanches have attained 100 percent electrification under Saubhagya Scheme and 100 percent vaccination under Mission Indradhanush.

On this event, the winners of Rashtriya e-Panchayat Puraskar and Gram Panchayat Vikas Puraskar Yojana under Sarvasreshtha Panchayat Puraskar Yojana will be felicitated. The felicitation of Panchayati Raj heads will work as a source of inspiration to the rest of India.

National Panchayati Raj Day is celebrated at the national level by Ministry of Panchayati Raj on 24 April annually. This day is also called as National Local Self-Government day. Ministry of Panchayati Raj works for the welfare of the Panchayat’s and oversee the matters relating to it.
