October 4 is World Animal Day, which is celebrated around the world is a social mission to improve the animal welfare standards around the globe to make the world a better place for all animals.
The World Animal Day was mentioned in 1931 at a convention of ecologists in Florence, Italy. It was during this convention that the plight of endangered species was highlighted and the day was chosen as it is the feast day of St Francis of Assisi.
