India is celebrating ‘National Unity Day’ tagged with birth anniversary of ‘Iron Man’ Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, an Indian politician responsible or better known as father of Republic of India. On 140th Birth Anniversary of a ‘Run for Unity’ March was organized at Delhi, flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this morning. The day also remembered Ex-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, who was assassinated on 31st October 1984.

Narendra Modi before flagging off ‘Run for Unity’ march addressed the masses attainted the celebration, along with offering floral tribute to Sardar Patel on his statue at Parliament Street. On this occasion Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister for Parliamentary affairs Venkaiah Naidu was also present.
Prime Minister in his speech said “after Chanakya, it was Sardar Patel who strung India together,” he further added that Unity is our biggest strength we have to move forward with mantra of unity, peace and harmony.”
The PM on this day announced “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” scheme would be launched soon, under which one state will choose another state and promote its respective culture and language. “I have formed committees which are preparing modalities for the same” said Narendra Modi addressing more than 15000 people present for ‘Run for Unity’ march on 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.
The short address of Modi came out on ‘National Unity Day’ read some inspiring lines in his own words, indicating towards need and importance of unity for development of country as a whole.
The speech read “If the country has to move forward and attain new heights of development, then the first guarantee is…. Irrespective of our language and attachment of our feelings and ideology to any inspiration or system from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Atak to Cuttuck, if our goal is to take Mother India to new heights in the world, then the first condition for that is unity, peace and harmony.
“If 125 crore Indians with the mantra of unity, peace and harmony walk one step together shoulder to shoulder, then the country will move 125 crore steps in one go.
“Our strength is a nation bound together by unity and which can sacrifice everything for unity and this is the message of Sardar sahib.”
