It is been 70 years that Mahatma Gandhi was shot dead. Today marks the 70th death anniversary of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi. During the evening prayers at Gandhi Smriti in the Birla House, Nathuram Godse had assassinated Bapu. Mahatama Gandhi has a major role in freedom of India. He had fought against the British rule with the weapons of truth and non-violence. 30 January, 1948 was sorrowful day for the entire nation. He was shot three bullets by Nathuram Godse and his last words were ‘Hey Ram’ which are also inscribed on his Samadhi.
Mahatma Gandhi was born with the name of Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi. He was promoter of brotherhood and peace in the nation. He is also called as Bapu by the people. He was ideal not only to India but to the whole world.
On this day, the leaders of nation pay tribute to Gandhiji at Rajghat in New Delhi. President Ram Nath Kovind,Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi and many other leaders pay tribute to Gandhiji on this day and also observe two-minute silence.
