AAP MLA hid unaccounted assets worth Rs. 130 crores

AAP MLA Kartar Singh

The Aam Aadmi Party is facing trouble these days as their various MLAs are found involved in different sorts of malpractices and illegal activities. The new incident involves Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislator Kartar Singh Tanwar, who is accused of hiding unaccounted assets worth Rs. 130 crores, however, the sources of the news specify it to be an unconfirmed report.

Kartar Singh Tanwar, age 54, is a property dealer by occupation and represents Mehrauli constituency of South Delhi. On the early morning of 27th August 2016, the IT department officials carried out a search and seizure operation on the properties and associated premises of Tanwar and uncovered documents which are completely unaccounted by this AAP MLA. The media reports are allegedly accusing this Chhatarpur MLA of unaccounted assets worth Rs. 132 crores.

As Tanwar is a property dealer and also owns a construction company, the IT department is scrutinizing the dealings of his company with its cross-holdings. There are suspicious transactions worth Rs. 7 crores, which are under the scanner of IT department. According to the Tax officials, the transactions could also be with the intention of Tax evasion and money laundering in various property deals.

When the IT department carried out the raid, the AAP MLAs said that the Central Government is against them and is playing the game of “Witch Hunting”. It is to be noted that more than a dozen of AAP MLAs are facing legal trial and charges in various cases since the date the party has won the Delhi Assembly elections in the month of February last year.

The IT officers also claimed that the MLA holds many proxy-owned properties and large farmhouses through his associates.

The raid has resulted in a new blame game and all the other AAP party supporters have joined Singh and said that investigating agencies are framing them just like the other AAP members and acting on behalf of the vindictive Central Government.

“Disheartened by past performance, Modi Ji seems to be improving his strike rate now. Almost an AAP MLA every day, to keep democratic principles away,” as said by an AAP MLA.

Yesterday, the BJP led center government denied for any sort of vendetta politics. The Union Minister of State for Finance, Arjun Ram Meghwal said that “Any lawmaker doing illegal things will have to face legal scrutiny. This government does not work with a vendetta.”

While filing his affidavit during the assembly elections in February 2015, he had declared his total assets worth Rs. 17 crores including several properties and farmhouses belonging to his close family members. Also, his IT return of 2013-14 showed only Rs. 12.65 lakhs as his total annual income.

These facts definitely create suspicion on Tanwar. It is to be noted that he was previously associated with BJP. It was last year that he joined AAP after BJP chose his relative to be their candidate for the Chhatarpur area. This was revealed by a BJP source itself.

Well, these things don’t seem to matter anymore. What matters is that AAP and all of its corrupt MLAs are in trouble as the culprits of people of India will not be spared.
