Akshay Kumar financially supporting families of soldiers who died in Uri

Akshay Kumar, the Khiladi of Bollywood has every now and then made headlines not only with his great acting in the Bollywood movies but also with the generous acts and helps that he offers to the neediest. Akshay Kumar, awarded cheques of worth rupees 5 lakh to 10 families while he honored the unsung heroes who lately martyred their lives for the nation in the recent Uri terror attack. At the event, the actor expressed his concern and said, “A medal or an award is good but not enough. More needs to be done for them and their families. They need money too.”

Last month, at a similar event in Delhi, the 49-year old actor honored soldiers by donating 80 lakh rupees. It was at the same event, when Akshay Kumar urged the general masses to donate to the families of the martyrs. Then he had said,

They are decorated with a lot of medals and that is good. But I looked at their faces. The honor was required for them but they need money too. You have to be practical. I thought how about supporting them financially and that is when I decided to do my bit for each family present there.”

Rohit, the elder brother of one of the martyrs Rockey, was grateful and overwhelmed with this gesture of Akshay Kumar. He expressed his gratitude to the actor and thanked him for his initiative. Rockey was a Border Security Force constable, died fighting terrorists during the Udhampur terrorist attack in 2015, Reportedly, Rockey fought two terrorists, and killed one of them. “It’s a great step from Akshay’s side because he is the only actor who thought about us and what a family goes through when a soldier dies for the country. We felt really nice that at least someone spared some time for us,” says Rohit, a resident of Yamuna Nagar in Ramgarh Village, Haryana.

Nazia is a brave 17 year old girl who has been presented with multiple bravery awards which also includes the prestigious Rani Laxmibai award for saving a young girl from getting kidnapped by two men in Agra in August 2015. “I’ve been given many awards but to meet Akshay Kumar in person was something I had never thought of. It’s a big thing to get felicitated by him. I want to do good for more people, and meeting Akshay has encouraged me further because people like him will always be there to inspire you,” says Nazia.

It’s time that other ‘wealthy’ people of the country must learn a lesson from this generous actor.
Akshay Kumar, we love you and respect you. We wish there were more like you!
