The 64th National Film Awards ceremony was held on Friday morning. The blockbuster Hijack drama “Neerja” grabbed the Best Hindi film award for year 2016. The Khiladi superstar, Akshay Kumar was recognized as the ‘Best Actor’ for Rustom.

Rustom is a story based on real life incident. It portrayed the vicious circle of money, women and power in the Indian scenario faced by an honest Naval officer.

Likewise, Neerja too has portrayed a real life story. Late Neerja Bhanot was a young airhostess who learnt overtime to stand for what’s right. Having faced adversities and being subjected to domestic violence, Neerja listened to her parents who said, “never accept anything wrong at Any Cost.”

Learnings from her past life enabled her to save hundreds of passengers boarded on the Pakistan Pan Am Flight 73 in Karachi. On September 5, 1986, the flight was hijacked by a group of terrorists who demanded acquittal of their gang member from Jail. This phenomenal movie was directed by Ram Madhvani and received a thumping response from audiences across the country and abroad.
