Initially government was planning to signing the legendary actor Mr Amitabh Bachchan as the brand ambassador of ‘Atulya Bharat’ but now the process of singing the actor has been delayed after his name appeared in the Panama Papers. Just if you don’t know, more than 100 news institutions from all over the world dig in into an investigation about a massive leak of information regarding a study by Mossack Fonseca which is a Panamanian law firm which deals with establishing shell corporations. The organisation revealed where does the ultra wealthy people of the world hide their money which also includes major world leaders and more than 500 Indians were named in Panama Papers which includes the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, DLF’s KP Singh, Solicitor General of India Harish Salve and former Miss World Aishwarya Ray Bachchan, Samir Gehlaut (India-bulls owner) among many others.
Due to this, the government has now delayed signing the actor for the cause. According to the sources, the decisions were supposed to be taken this month but now have been delayed. Speaking about his name involved in the offshore shell corporations to hide extra money, (the leak reported by the Indian Express newspaper) he said, “I do not know any of the companies referred to by Indian Express – Sea Bulk Shipping Company Ltd, Lady Shipping Ltd, Treasure Shipping Ltd, and Tramp Shipping Ltd. I have never been a director of any of the above stated companies. It is possible that my name has been misused.”
Only time will tell what happens next but for the mean time all decisions regarding him becoming the brand ambassador of the Incredible India have been delayed by the government.
