Amravati: the new capital of Andhra Pradesh promises a futuristic world class city

Amravati, the capital of the cut off region of Andhra Pradesh is now the pavilion for the N. Chandrababu Naidu team to implement his development and make it a world class city. According to officials “Amravati, the capital of the truncated Andhra Pradesh, is planned to be developed as a “futuristic” world-class city with expertise from Japan and Singapore, and the cost of building it could be in excess of $2 billion.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22nd Oct laid the foundation stone of this new capital city of Andhra Pradesh at Uddandarayunipalem village in Guntur district. The idea that lies behind this vast project is based on public-private partnership (PPP)model.

Even the green signal was indicated from the Singapore Government which promises to train the Government officials of Andhra Pradesh to master their traits in capacity building and urban development and make Amravati the most worth living city.

An official of Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore told “The Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) and Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) will also help AP develop its institutional capacity in urban governance and related areas through training programmes for AP officials responsible for the development of the capital city”.

“International Enterprise (IE) Singapore is the government agency coordinating efforts across Singapore’s public and private sectors for the master plan,” an official of Ministry of Trade and Industry.”

A MoU has also been signed with Singapore and Japan to propagate the further growth of this futuristic A-class city with high end amenities.

“Japan has come forward to work with us in diverse sectors such as urban development, port development, agriculture technology and super critical power,” Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said.

Post Bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh State there was quite some monetary losses which AP government faced turbulently and for the development the right strategy will be “Swiss Challenge” method. Under the Swiss Challenge, a developer will be asked to presents a bid. Then other prospective developers would also be asked to present counter bids. If the latter is lower, the first bidder will be asked to submit another bid. If the first bidder comes up with lower bid, then he gets the right, otherwise the one with lower bid gets the project.
