Patanjli Jeans

Yog Guru Baba Ramdev has been making headlines every now and then. This man needs no introduction now. His yoga camps around the owrld and his ‘Patanajali’ foundation has made him popular enought o be talked about in every second home of the country. From Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty to the prime minister of the country Narendra Modi, he has made almost everyone do yoga and set examples. He founded the Patanjali Group of Institutions along with Acharya Balkrishna, the managing director and primary stakeholder of Patanjali Ayurved, an Indian FMCG company. Patanjali makes all sorts of products including shampoos, creams, soaps, biscuits, juices, medicines, honey, Maggie and what not.

Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna have together taken Patanjali group at heights. Broadcast Audience Research Council is a joint industry body that compiles and publishes TV viewing data and has reported that Patanjali Ayurved Ltd. which is led by him has becomes the leading advertiser in the country. Baba Ramdev has been in controversies lately for his cover photo at the India Times magazine. Now after this, Baba Ramdev has recently announced that Patanjali would be soon manufacturing and will launch ‘Swadeshi’ apprarels including jeans and t-shirts for the meantime. He said the jeans would be either launched by the end of this year or definetly by the beginning of next year. He said that he is pretty confident that his brand ‘Patanjali’ would be a tough competition to the top running foreign brands in the country which deal in garments. He said he will give multinational companies a run for their money. “There is a great demand from youths, and therefore, Patanjali has decided to launch the Indianised jeans to compete with foreign brands, he said. According to some reports, the line may be called ‘Paridhaan’. “Just because I am a baba does not mean we cannot marry modernity with spirituality, we can make, let’s say desi jeans,” he added.

“The idea (of the apparel brand) started with some followers asking me for Patanjali yoga wear. Then we thought ‘why not a whole range of dresses – Paridhaan – for everyone’? If we are fighting to bring economic independence for our country from multinationals by promoting indigenous and natural products, we should also be in the garments market,” Baba Ramdev told The Telegraph.

“We have already set up our units in Nepal and Bangladesh and our products have reached the Middle East and became popular in some of the countries, including Saudi Arabia,” Baba Ramdev told reporters.
