One of Chennai’s nonprofit organizations People for Cattle in India (PFCI) has stepped up to protect mowing down of stray animals through vehicles during nights. Such sudden hits and resulting deaths of animals have been so common in India because during nights it gets easy to overlook whether any stray animal might be crossing the road or sitting on the way, or just come right in front of your speedy vehicle from nowhere.

In order to protect these poor animals from getting hurt or dying in road accidents, Chennai’s NPO thought of making the strays wear reflective bands around their necks.  On 1st of May, the NPO people  tried very hard and around 300 dogs and cattle were fit with these so called ‘magic collars,’ made of a reflective cloth stuck on a nylon tape. The main aim of installing these bands is their reflecting power which after coming under any vehicle’s headlight would hint the driver that something is on the way, making him/her careful and avoid hitting it.

Arun Prasanna, founder of People for Cattle in India (PFCI), said “We decided to take one more step and use it for cattle as well”. The reflective bands which the organization is using have been properly tested in cities like Pune, Bengaluru and Jamshedpur.

As far as the funding for this initiative is concerned, all animal lovers are coming to chip in for this amazing idea which can save innocent stray dogs and cattle.
