China Acted As Stumbling Block For India’s Proposal On Masood Azhar

As per the Friday news, China has acted as a road block for India’s proposition to list Pakistan based JeM chief Masood Azhar as a designated terrorist by the United Nations. This has activated a sharp reaction from India and they called it as “unfortunate blow”.

As per the Indian investigating  agencies’  surveillance, Azhar was the culprit behind the attack on the IAF base in Patahankot in January, 2016. All evidences have been shared with the UN in this matter.

Vikas Swaroop from Ministry of External Affairs mentioned it like, “This decision by China is surprising as China itself has been affected by the scourge of terrorism and has declared opposition to all forms of terrorism. As a consequence of this decision, the UN Security Council has again been prevented from acting against the leader of a listed terrorist organisation”.

He also highlighted the fact that, India’s submission had support from all members of the 15-member Sanctions Committee. “The international community is aware that the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed, which is proscribed by the United Nations, has been responsible for innumerable terrorist attacks on India, including the Pathankot air base attack. The inability of the international community to list its leader, Masood Azhar, is an unfortunate blow to the concerted efforts to effectively counter all forms of terrorism, and confirms prevalence of double standards in the fight against terrorism.”

Since, China has put a halt in India’s proposal submitted in February to the 1267 Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council, New Delhi, India will have to propose a new appeal. This is not an unheard story where China as acted as a big bump on the way of India safety affairs. Earlier also, during April and October, the neighbour country caused a “technical hold” on India’s appeal.

The UN-designated terrorist group, Jasih-e-Mohammad has been managed and created by Masood Azhar. He mainly active in the Azad Kashmir which is administered by Pakistan.
