Congress Rahul Gandhi’s hug and wink stunned whole India; Social Media exploits the opportunity well

The 27th No-Confidence motion debate turned out to be a platform for entertainment. Gandhi made scathing attacks on the ruling BJP with his words. He picked up topics from the Rafale deal to GST (Goods and Services Tax), demonetisation and foreign policy. Towards the end of the speech, Rahul Gandhi said to PM Narendra Modi and BJP that “You may call me Pappu, but I don’t hate you. I will take out this hatred out of you and turn it into love. I am the Congress” After this, he went across to Modi and walked across to embrace him. This unexpected gesture of Gandhi put the entire country in the shock. In fact, it didn’t end here. After hug Gandhi was moving back but PM Modi called him back and shook hand with his political rival. Later, he went to his seat and winked his fellow Congress MP.

This gesture of Gandhi was not liked by speaker Sumitra Mahajan. She said to 47 year-old Congress President, “There is some decorum of the house. (PM Modi) was sitting in the prime minister’s seat. I did not like it.” She also called the conduct against the rules of the House.

Rahul Gandhi’s hug and wink soon became the media sensation. Social media couldn’t hold back and fired him with hashtags, memes and jokes. His wink is being compared with Priya Prakash Varrier’s and his hug with Munna Bhai’s. Hashtags like ‘pappukijhappi’ and ‘hugplomacy’ stormed the social media, including Twitter.
