A death penalty for rapist of a minor is soon going to be a truth. The Madhya Pradesh Assembly will soon introduce a criminal law on death penalty for the crime of raping a child. The report was introduced on Friday.
Shivraj Singh Chauhan, the Chief Minister mentioned, “A bill providing death sentence for rape of minors would be presented in the coming monsoon session [of Assembly]. Once it is passed it would be forwarded to the President for assent”.
While addressing the “Joint Convocation Ceremony” at Madhya Pradesh Police Academy, Mr. Chouhan rolled out this announcement.
Mr. Chouhan mentioned, “The first condition for the development of the state and the country is a good law and order system and this is the major responsibility of the police”.
The state police will have the complete support of the government.
Police said, “At different levels, the government had approved minimum of 30,000 new posts of police personnel at many levels. Also, around 25,000 new houses will be constructed with facilities such as CCTV cameras for the police staff”.
In addition to this, Mr. Chauhan whole heartedly lauded the police for Bhopal-Ujjain train blast investigation. The culprits were captured and accused within three hours.
He also added, “Women were not inferior to anyone and therefore a third of the posts in the police department were reserved for women in the state”.
With this, they wish to create an environment where women can roam freely at any time without any fear. Making them independent is their priority.
There are 633 police personnel with 155 women personnel in ranks like subedar, sub-inspector, sub-inspector of Special Armed Force and sub-inspector of Special Branch were in the service at 89th Convocation of the Academy.
Death penalty for rapes is a major decision which will most likely curb this grave crime. We look forward for similar implication in the whole nation.
