Sudden demise of E. Ahamed on Union Budget Day caused unstoppable conflict at Lok Sabha

Today was a big day of Indian history. Not only was it the first budget post demonetisation, but also the first amalgamation of Railway and Union budgets. All Indian eyes were glued to the TV screens to witness and contemplate the Indian Budget 2017. There was a surprise element which enveloped the air. However, unfortunately, the sudden demise of former union minister and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader E. Ahamed engendered an emotional sink in the hearts of nearly all Indians, who were updated with the news.

While there was a slight ambiguity as to whether or not Indian budget will be presented today or tomorrow, Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan cleared out the air confirming that the Union Budget date will remain unchanged. Mallikarjun Kharge protested explicitly and also put forward his desire to further the budget date by a day, to show reverence towards the demised leader. President Pranab Mukherjee, “E. Ahamed was a tireless campaigner for welfare of underprivileged, his services to the nation will be long remembered,” he added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have also condoled the demise of Ahamed.

Congress Party president Sonia Gandhi accompanied with abiding son, Rahul Gandhi, Congress vice-president had paid a visit to the ailing politician in the hospital.

The veteran leader, on Tuesday was admitted in a critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest during the President’s address in both Houses.

However, as health condition worsened, he was shifted to the RML trauma centre’s ICU where he was put on ventilator.
