India Vs England Test Series: Virat Kohli Dedicates his ton to Anushka, kisses his ring

Virat-Kohli-Anushka-Sharma

Virat Kohli showcased a terrific performance by scoring 149 runs on the second day of the opening test between India and England. It was the 22nd Test ton for Kohli and first in England that led India to bring down the deficit to just 13 runs. At one point in the game, India were struggling at 182-8 and it seemed like England had gained an edge but the Indian skipper came to the rescue and lifted the score to 274 by striking a stunning score of 149.

As soon as Kohli completed his century he ecstatically jumped with joy and then reached under his shirt for his wedding ring that he was wearing in a chain. He kissed the ring and then gave a flying kiss to wife Anushka Sharma, who was cheering for him in the stands. It was a special century for Kohli that he dedicated to wife Anushka.

Virat was playing at 97 when Umesh Yadav, the last one in the batting lineup made his entry. Luckily, the wickets were intact, all thanks to Kohli’s spectacular performance. There were some beautiful shots including a classic cover drive off Stokes scoring four and a six off Adil Rashid’s spinning ball.

By the time he scored 135, he had made more runs in his maiden Test series against England in 2014 whereby he scored just 134 in 10 innings. It was a magnificent entertaining show presented by Virat who batted for nearly 5 hours and faced 225 balls while scoring 22 fours and 1 six.

Praising this terrific performance, Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar said, “At one stage we were staring down the barrel, and the gap was huge, but because of his brilliance, and the commitment shown by the batsmen around him, it’s still even stevens for both sides.”
