A Girl Child is your diamond forever. Keep loving her and believe in her magic!

Girls are unabashedly a nation’s pride. An educated woman can create an educated family. On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed people urging all to contribute towards ensuring equality of women. He highlighted the need to reject gender discrimination and ensure equal opportunities on the occasion of Girl Child Day.

“National Girl Child Day is a day to celebrate the exceptional achievements of the girl child, whose excellence in many fields makes us proud,” he said in a tweet.

National Girl Child Day will be celebrated today at a special event organized by the ministry of women and child development.

Modi said, “it is imperative to reject discrimination against the girl child and ensure equal opportunities for the girl child”.

“Let us reaffirm our commitment to challenging stereotypes based on gender & promote gender sensitisation as well as gender equality,” the Prime Minister said in another tweet.

The inspiring lives of impeccable female personalities including Deepa Karmakar, Geeta Phagot, PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik, Malala Yousufzai, Deepika Padukone and all those women who have made us as country proud.

Delhi’s AAP deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia was taken aback when he visited a government school and interacted with students on the eve of National Girl Child Day.

“Whom and what do we need to protect our daughters from?” asked Sisodia from a group of school children yesterday.

“From orthodox and backward thinking,” they answered. Quite impressive. Isn’t it?

“With a commendable performance at the Olympics and Paralympics and a historic induction of the first female fighter pilots into the Indian Air Force, it has truly been a proud year for India,” the ministry said.

The ministry also released a short video with a message from Olympics medal winner Sakshi Malik. Quite thoughtful indeed!
