H-1B visa allows U.S. employers to employ foreign workers in specialty occupations. This is most sought visa amongst Indian professionals. Recently, the current president of USA Donald Trump toughens the process to get H-1B visa. Although this decision has come out as a jolt to the visa seekers, Donald administration is not ready to ease the norms. Amidst unprecedented scrutiny by president Trump’s administration, the process of filing petitions for H-1B visa has begun. It is mentioned that there will be zero tolerance for even minor errors.

The USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Services) will open its doors to the H-1B visa applications for the season 2018-19 from April 2 (Monday). Those who qualify the test will be able to work in US from October 1, 2018. The tenure of the visa will end after three years.

In fact, in March, the USCIS had announced that it will temporarily suspend the premium processing for the H-1B visa. The new policy has made it mandatory for the companies to make one more clarification to prove that its H-1B employee at a third-party worksite has specific and non-qualifying speculative assignments in a specialty occupation.

Reason behind toughening the visa policy
In order to protect the interests of US workers, Donald Trump has adopted “Buy American and Hire American” policy. Toughening H1-B visas process is part of that policy.
