Today on 21st May, the celebration of Gautam Buddha’s birth is popularly known as Buddha Purnima. Born as Siddhartha Gautam, Buddha had a well bred family. As he grew, his moral and mental understanding brought to him a stage where he happily renounced all the worldly pleasures of his royal life. It was the common people and carefree interactions with him that made Siddhartha Gautam into Gautam Buddha.
This day is accordingly celebrated with the full moon day of the Vaisakha month in the Buddhist calendar. It’s not just a public holiday South Asia but in many other countries like Canada, Australia and United States as people there too celebrate this festival by commemorating different cultures and ethnicities.
On this special day, it is best to go back to what all teachings he imparted into the wide world. Who knows we might learn answers to our inner problems we have been fighting with alone all along.
HAPPY BUDDHA PURNIMA!
