Great news for all the cricket lovers!

Indian women’s cricket team had reasons to celebrate after a win against Pakistan.

Indian women’s cricket team crushed Pakistan by a massive margin of 95 runs during the ICC Women’s World Cup 2017 match on Sunday in Derby.  India managed 169/9 in 50 overs. Pakistan lost plenty of wickets at regular intervals. Fans definitely got every penny worth.

EKTA’S JOURNEY

Ekta Bisht, the 31 years old cricketer was the trump card in the match.  She continued to take the wickets at regular intervals celebrating India’s victory in fine fashion.  She was the star of the match and managed to take 5 wickets helping India stamping their authority over Pakistan.

Apart from her, there were contributions by a couple of other Indian batters that proved to be the key in the final context of the match.

Ekta’s journey with cricket began when she was only nine. Ekta used to play in the empty plot along with boys of her colony, due to the lack of open fields in the hills. It was then that she was spotted by a local coach Liyaqat Ali and took her under his wings at the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna stadium which was 3 km away from her house.

On Coach Ali’s insistence, she took to left-arm spin bowling. Ekta’s mother was the rock behind her dreams and encouraged her to take up the sport. She has 48 ODIS to her credit and taken 68 wickets and 36 T20s with 45 scalps.

In such a great form, Ekta is for sure going to be India’s trump card in the upcoming matches in the Women’s World Cup. Girls like Ekta are truly an inspiration for us. They teach us how to get through all the hurdles in life. We sincerely wish her all the best for all her future endeavors.
