Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria met Pakistan’s National Security Advisor Naseer Khan Janjua on April 3. The meeting was held at Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in Islamabad, Pakistan. It focused on the cross border terrorism going on lately including the incidents of Shopian attacks and Anantnag encounter in J&K. With this meeting, both the countries hope to reconcile and strengthen ties with each other.

High Commissioner also inaugurated the Residential complex of the High Commission on India at Islamabad on April 2. Here’s the tweet containing the pictures from the occasion:

It was a courtesy meeting scheduled a week earlier whereby Indian High Commissioner sensitized the Pakistan NSA on issues concerning India. Ajay Bisaria discussed the 3 encounters that took place in Shopian and the Anantnag encounter in which 13 militants were killed.

As per the reports, the Pakistan National Security Advisor expressed serious concerns over the ongoing human rights violation and added that the “use of force will not lead us to anywhere” as it “diminishes hope, harms the society, and worsens the fragile situation”.

The two nations are going to take measures on “catering to each other’s needs” by exchanging prisoners, trade initiatives and visits of medical teams. Recently India also proposed to send a team of 20 doctors for children, elderly people, mentally unhealthy people and women.

Amid the recent terror attacks that took place in J&K, the officials from the North Block. The National Security Guard had approached the Home Ministry and sought permission for “house intervention teams in support of counter-terrorism operations conducted by army and security forces”.

Besides, the diplomats of both the countries had also reported incidents of harassment and stalking amid several incidents of ceasefire violation at the border. It’s quite a worrisome situation but as long as the higher authorities hold such dialogues, there’s a hope that everything will turn out to be better than what it is today.
