India’s Smart Start-Up Owners Among the First to Order Tesla Model 3

Tesla is one electric car brand which usually has crazy advance bookings throughout the US. The good news is that it has attracted interest from big names of the Indian startup clan recently. Well, who wouldn’t be interested in a beauty like Tesla which is followed and is a favorite of majority of Americans.

Model 3 of Tesla Motors is one behind this boomingly surfacing inclination which the Indian start-up ecosystem has been showcasing. Mainly because the entire model with all its features and magnificent design is nothing less than a masterpiece and such a car is definitely sufficient to bear a great future for success. It surely has those qualities to become a mass player and an opponent destroyer.

Tesla founder Elon Musk tweeted “the firm would be taking orders from India and a few other emerging markets, marking its entry into India and being the first global electric vehicle to do so.”  According to Reuters, pre-orders for the car have crossed 130,000 in the first 24 hours. Tesla is accepting a token of $1,000 for pre-orders.

Whereas the specifications are concerned, it is a sleek four-door sedan that can travel 215 miles on a single charge.

It will be ready for delivery in the U.S. by the end of 2017 at a starting price of $35,000, before tax which amounts to amounts to Rs. 23.2 lakh in India. As per current regulations, Indians need to pay 100 per cent import duty, which would take the price tag to Rs.46.4 lakh.

Founder and CEO of Alibaba-backed Paytm, Vijay Sekhar Sharma confirmed that he had pre-ordered the car and tweeted regarding this saying, “Let’s see how long does it take for Tesla Model 3 to reach India. Reservation done for now,”  Among the other startup owners who have placed an order are, venture capitalist Mahesh Murthy and Sujayath Ali, Vishal Gondal of GoQii, and founder and CEO at Voonik. Amit Bhawani.

The Indian car market is also nurturing towards enhanced environment-friendly cars. “By the time they start shipping the vehicle to India, they would expect the Indian government to bring incentives for electric cars as with the Model 3, Tesla is testing the Indian market and can build a big brand in India.” said Abdul Majeed, partner at PWC.
