PM Modi assesses Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan

Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan, PM Narendra Modi Review Today

Terror attack and the proxy war in Kashmir, India is doing what is has never done before. It’s reviewing an agreement between India and Pakistan that has actually stood the test of time and all previous terror attacks. India is reviewing all important Indus Water treaty between India and Pakistan. It hasn’t ruled out scraping the treaty if Pakistan continues to sponsor terrorism from its soil. Water resources ministry of the Modi government has held several rounds of meetings to review the 1960 Indus Water and the decision is expected very soon.

It’s time for Pakistan to pay the price. The neighbor’s life line is in India’s hand and the Modi government is all ready to pull the plug. As Pakistan continues to fly like a headless chicken, India is now mulling to reduce the Indus water supply to Pakistan.  India is considering reducing the flow of 6 rivers of the Indus basin to bring Pakistan to its knees.

“For such a treaty to work, it is important that there must be mutual trust and understanding and mutual co-operation between both the sides. It cannot be one sided,” says MEA. Also, Yashwant Sinha, senior BJP leader says, “There is almost 80% water in the Indus Water Basin that we give to Pakistan. We now need to think about ourselves and our states like Jammu and Kashmir.” Any treaty between two sovereign nations is valid so long till both the nations abide by that treaty and respect that treaty.

The after affects of the Uri terror attack are solid for the Indian government. The government has planned to unleash 5 pronged offenses against Pakistan in a bid to choke the country economically and isolated on a global stage. The government has made its most ferocious strategies that include the Indus water Treaty being reviewed.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a meeting to discuss about the five-decades-old Indus Water Treaty between India and Pakistan post the Uri terror Attack.

In the meeting with the PM, officials from various ministries would be briefing him about the Indus Water treaty and the possibilities of reviewing and amending it. This is seen as India’s response to Pakistan after the Uri terror attack. China also holds a part of the Indus as it originates there, so an assessment of the Indus treaty is bound to factor in China. If China decides to divert Indus, India on the other hand would lose as much as 36% of water, though China has not signed any international treaty for the same. And if India blocks the flow of Indus into Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir might face a drastic flood like condition.

Stay tuned with us as we will keep you updating with the reviewing of Indus Water Treaty by PM Modi.
