Jaipur Dhulandi Festival: Drench in those Holi colours with full zing and thrill this March

What is up? With preparations for Gunjiya to Thandai, from shopping ‘Pichkaris’ to filling water balloons, hunting for the perfect location and convincing my friends to accompany, I am prepping for the holi extravaganza—It is a time to rejoice as Dhulandi is just around the corner.

Well, I have fixated my venue for the colour festival, it is the Jaipur festival. The pink city is hosting the most awaited Dhulandi Festival on March 13. Being a Jaipurite, the thrill and excitement is palpable for someone who is a Holi-fan.

The Department of Tourism is organizing this festival which is mainly centred towards embracing foreign tourists.

The event will be held on the lawns of the Khasa Kothi hotel. A slew of performances have been lined up There is a variety of performances to amuse the audience and the foreign tourists.

The Elephant Festival is organised. Natives and travelers from all over the globe come to Jaipur and celebrate this festival at Chaugan Stadium. A huge camp fire is held, according to the traditions and this camp fire is called ‘Holika Dehen’.

On this day, it is believed that people should forgive each other for their misdoings and start on a fresh note. In the evening, people visit each others’ homes, hug and greet each other, share a light conversation and have a great time together.

The festival of colours which we commonly know as Holi is also called Dhulandi or Dhuleti. The term is used mostly in the Braj regions of Vrindavan and Mathura.

The visitors will savour a multitude of delicacies. From Gunjiyan to Thandai, there will be literally mouth-watering dishes to treat your taste-buds on the festival.
