This February, Rajasthan’s Desert Festival is calling you to join the affluence of sand desert. Organised from February 8th to 10th, the desert festival is going to offer every pleasing hue which we often crave for. This grand festival comes every year and leaves its imprint on the minds of visitors to lure them to join it every other time also. Not even the locals, the festival has been attracting many worldwide artists and foreign visitors since long which makes it internationally recognised.
During these three days of desert festival, the tiny sand town situated in the heart of Thar Desert comes alive with trail of events, plays and musical performances. Jaisalmer, is surrounded by sand dunes and secluded, which turns into a pleasing effect during this three day long saga.
The festival is adorned with number of Rajasthan centric competitions, like camel polo, turban tying competition Marushree contest (Mr. Desert) and many others like this.
Rajasthan depicts colourful culture and heritage donned in plethora of enthusiasm. As every celebration is usually accompanied with a fable, desert festival is no different. Mythology depicts that, Lord Krishna said to Arjuna that one brave successor of Yadav lineage will win over Trikuta Hills in the future.
Justifying the statement, Raiwal Jaiswal, a successor of Yadavs, in the year 1196 conquered over the Jaisalmer and set up a kingdom. The festival manifests that win till date and is celebrated till date. Also, dedicated to this notion, the festival starts with the departure of world artists, enthusiasts, musicians and performers towards the sand dunes spot.
The whole festival is managed by the desert festival of Rajasthan and also sponsored by them. It would be a sin to miss this merrymaking of sand state which is adored worldwide by the artists and musicians. This will be an unforgettable escapade for travel lovers.
