Maruti Suzuki IGNIS a head-turner, already rage among masses. Co. records 4,000 deliveries in January 2017

India’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki launched it’s new model, Ignis in early January 2017 which has apparently taken over the market. Its entry-level positioning in Maruti Suzuki‘s premium Nexa showrooms, affordable pricing has accentuated it’s fanfare in the Indian market.

Maruti Suzuki recorded dispatches of 4,830 units of this brand in the first month. Considering that the Ignis launched on 13 January, this means that the dispatch numbers were achieved in just 18 days.

With an initial price of INR 4.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Ignis is just perfectly priced for its target audience.

The Maruti Ignis is positioned against the Hyundai Grand i10, which recently got its own facelift that added some segment-first features, and the Mahindra KUV100, which is considered as a class-apart right now. The biggest strength of the Ignis seems to be its own unique styling, and the availability of AMT on both petrol and diesel models, which is a big first for its segment.

The Ignis comes in four trims: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. It is available in a choice of two engines – the first is a 1.2-litre petrol engine that delivers 82 bhp of power at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. The second is a 1.3-litre diesel engine that offers peak power of 74 bhp at 4,000 rpm and top-end torque of 190 Nm at 2,000 rpm.

Not only this, there are various other attractive features too. It allows customization of cars. The Ignis also comes with a number of customisation options to please the customers. It can be manufactured with a slew of roof patterns and distinct interior colour tones, subject to personal choice of the buyer.

The car is currently available at all 200 Nexa showrooms in India, which Maruti Suzuki plans to expand to 400 by 2020.

Moreover, the Ignis also boasts of a strong social media and promotional campaign. Thanks to these promos, the phenomenal car managed to grab around 6,000 pre-launch orders in the 12 days before its launch. Six days after the launch date, bookings crossed the 10,000 units milestone.
