Now, VIP Sirens Are Replacing The Red Beacon

VIP Siren Replace Red Beacon Light

The jugaad regime is not new for Indians and this time it was more than epic. People even got a way to get through the recently abolished VIP culture in the country. The “lal battis” have exclusively been replaced by the sirens in some of the states. Especially, in Telangana and Madhya Pradesh states, VIPs make their presence feel by making huge noise of sirens.

Some other states, such as Maharashtra are still detecting options so that the VIPs can be highlighted separately without hampering the new rules. Deepak Kesarkar, who is minister of state for home has appealed to the state DGP to consider the concern without hampering the newly made rules.

Kesarkar pointed to the notion that a VIP’s car should be distinguished from a normal vehicle for security reasons. However, securing the person by highlighting him/her is quite not understandable. Many of the BJP leaders in Madhya Pradesh removed are deprived of the red beacon following the lead of state CM, but many others have decided not to lose the limelight by literally putting hooters on their vehicles. Here, the rule of the Central Motor Vehicle applies as it asks not to use any siren or hooters on the vehicles. The section 119 of the CMVR says, the vehicles like ambulances, fire brigades and construction equipments are a thing of exception here.

Many politicians and VIPs were asked about the use of sirens on their vehicles, to which Sanjay Tiwari from ARTO said, “Only the transport department and police have the right to use hooters. No one else can. We will fine vehicles using hooters with Rs. 5,000 each.”

Definitely, hooters upset the citizens and peace of the environment. Vineet Sharma, an employee of a private company says, “Beacons are gone, but what about hooters and sirens? It’s irritating when vehicles blaring sirens tailgate you and try to overtake even on narrow roads. Sirens have no use, apart from emergency vehicles, and only add to noise pollution”.
