The Brazilian city of Rio De Janerio has witnessed a part of history being written by a simple Indian girl. However, this girl is simple but her accomplishment is not so simple. This Indian girl is a gymnast is Dipa Karmakar, who was made all of Indians proud at Rio Olympics and scripted her name in golden words in the Indian history. She has become the first Indian gymnasts to make the cut for the individual vault finals. It is an honored moment for us all with India shining in the Olympics. We all surely had high hopes this summer and Dipa Karmakar has played her part fruitfully. By making all of us proud, she had portrayed the actual picture of Indian women to the whole world. It is her debut Olympic Games and she had finished on the 8th place in the qualifying round here.

Dipa, originally, belongs to Tripura and is the country’s first woman gymnast, who has qualified for Olympics. He had performed her much-appreciated move “Produnova” vault very cleanly and has secured a total of 14.850 points in the qualifiers. After those attempts, she was eagerly waiting for her turn and subsequently ended up sixth after the third of five subdivisions.

But the overall ratings had shuffled and she shifted to 8th position after the superb effort and performance of Canadian participant Shallon Olsen with 14.950 points. After all this, Dipa had just the enough points to secure her place in the finals which are scheduled on 14th August for the medal.

Dipa had got 7.000 on the difficulty and 8.1 on the execution for her first attempt while her score for difficulty was a little lower at 6.000 for the second attempt. She had landed low on her very own Produnova vault during the first attempt, whereas her second vault was a complete ‘Tsuk double full twist’ along with a step to the side.

The maestro Simone Biles, who is a three-time world all-around champion has the topped the charts with an exceptional 16.050 score. This American girl scored a sensational 9.700 in the execution part in both her attempts.

We all can pray and encourage Dipa to outperform in the final as everybody has hopes from this girl. Also, Dipa is the first Indian girl to win a Commonwealth Games medal. So, we all are anticipating an Olympic medal from her this time and to mark India in the books of Olympics.
