PM Modi expressed ‘unhappiness’ over media glorifying Kashmiri militant Burhan Wani as ‘hero’

The nation is going through a worse situation where the recent killing of the Burhan Wani, the top Hizbul Mujahideen Commander and his two associates has created situations of tension and violence in the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is said to have articulated his ‘unhappiness’ over the media coverage on violent protests in the Kashmir Valley following killing of Burhan Wani saying that Hizbul Mujahideen militant is being portrayed as a “hero”.

This was conveyed by the Prime Minister at the high-level meeting he summoned up to review the tensed situation arising in Jammu and Kashmir after Wani’s killing in an encounter on Tuesday morning, sources privy to the meeting said. Top ministers and members of parliament were present in the meeting. After PM Modi was briefed about the situations in the Kashmir Valley, reportedly PM Modi expressed ‘unhappiness’ over the media’s coverage of the news and on the fact that how a militant who was involved in terrorist activities is considered as a ‘hero’. During the meeting, PM Modi also cited all the cases which were registered against Wani and told that most of the cases were serious and were under Unlawful Activities Preventon Act.
