PM Narendra Modi in Singapore; Orchid names after Indian PM

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Singapore. He has visited three-nation Indonesia Malaysia and Singapore in five days. PM Narendra Modi met with Singapore President Halimah Yacob. This visit is meant to enhance bilateral cooperation between two nations in areas like trade and investment, connectivity, innovation and technology. Today, he visited National Orchid Garden of Singapore.

At the National Orchid Garden of Singapore, an orchid was named after PM Narendra Modi to mark his visit. It is the only tropical garden to be listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This has been informed by tweet made by External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar. He tweeted,
“Dendrobrium Narendra Modi – an orchid named after PM @narendramodi on the occasion of his visit to the National Orchid Garden in Singapore.”

Details about orchids
The details of orchids are they are strong and robust tropical orchid. These have upright inflorences up to 38 cm long with 14-20 well-arranged flowers. They have distinguished and well twisted petals. The sepals of orchids are reddish brown and lined with a fine margin. Complimented with an attractive dark purple lip, these orchids are extremely beautiful.

He later visited Singapore’s oldest Hindu temple Sri Mariamman and participated in prayers. Mariamman temple is dedicated to Goddess Mariamman who is famous for her power in curing epidemic illnesses and diseases. The temple is located in the heart of Chinatown.
