Professor RN Sharma slapped by a law student at the Rajasthan University Campus

The National Students Union of India activists were holding a protest on some students issue outside the Rajasthan University campus on Monday when a law student allegedly slapped a professor of the Rajasthan University.

This episode was even recorded in a camera and the video went viral on social media soon after the incident took place.

Ram Narayan Sharma is an associate professor of the geography department. The professor of the Rajasthan University was slapped by the second year law student Pooja Verma. She approached the professor from nowhere and then suddenly slapped him.  The professor and the associate Proctor were just trying to pacify and convince the protesters outside the vice chancellor’s office who were determined to meet the acting vice chancellor when the shameless incident took place.

A complaint has been filed against her for disrupting a public servant from doing his duties and assaulting him. The professor Ram Narayan Sharma himself filed a complaint against her at the Gandhi Nagar police station.

In his complaint, Ram Narayan Sharma stated that he was outside the VC’s secretariat and talking to another associate professor, Ram Avtar Sharma. Students of National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) were protesting nearby. “A girl named Pooja Verma held me by my collar and assaulted me. She pushed me and tried to discourage me from carrying out my official duty. The policemen intervened and took her away. After preliminary questioning, it emerged that she was instigated by another student by the name of Bhanwar Singh,” said the complaint.

Also, Surendra Kumar in his statement stated the woman was not a member of the National Students Union of India. She came in all of a sudden and manhandled Professor Ram Narayan Sharma. The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) state president Abhimanyu Punia has also clarified the same that Pooja Verma was not associated with their organization at all.

The university chief proctor, Prof Vipin Tayal, declared that he has written to the principal of the law college and strict and necessary action will be taken against the girl as soon as possible.
