Rahul Gandhi to be Elevated as Congress President very Soon

Rahul Gandhi to become the Congress President very soon

The possibilities of Rahul Gandhi becoming the next President of Congress have been discussed from a long time now. However, soon the assumptions may turn into a reality as Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi has hinted that it’s happening.

As per the recent reports, Rahul Gandhi’s elevation from Vice President to President is confirmed. As reported by NDTV, Sonia Gandhi was quoted as saying, “You have been asking this for so many years and it’s now happening. However, Rahul didn’t respond to the same and instead commented about Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah and his turnover.

With the onset of organizational elections that are happening soon, Congress is preparing for a major shuffle. The party has been granted time till December to conclude the procedure. However, the All India Congress Committee is likely to finish off the procedure by this month’s end.

It’s being speculated that the elevation will take place a few weeks before the Assembly Elections in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat. It’s worth noting that the competition is quite stiff in both the states considering the BJP’s strong position.

Sonia Gandhi had become the party chief in 1998 and she is the only party president who has served for so long. There have been demands from within the party that Rahul must take over the reins from his mother and take the legacy forward.

On Thursday, the Uttarakhand Congress Committee adopted the resolution thereby urging Raul Gandhi to become the next President of the party. The resolution was passed unanimously by more than 200 party members at a meeting of the Pradesh Congress Committee.

Senior Congress Leader Veerappa Moily said that Rahul has given “excellent hope” for the party and he would be the “face of the country” in the year 2019.
