Rail Ministry Provides Wheelchair to Passenger on Tweeter Request

A yet another story of helping passenger added into the slam book of Indian Railway. This time Railways provided a wheel chair to passenger, following the request made on social media (twitter) on 28th November.

Pankaj Jain who was travelling with his ailing father on Sunday from Yesvantpur-Bikaner train, requested a wheel chair for his father through a tweet to Rail Ministry. The passenger stubbed with a surprise watching a spontaneous reply for helping him with every possible means.

Pankaj Jain opted social media taking inspiration from his friend who suggested him to use the twitter handle. Pankaj says that “I tweeted to the rail ministry on November 28 at around 6-7pm, asking for the train to be stopped for 10 minutes, for a wheelchair and for assistance in getting my father down at Merta Road.”

Jain has planned a treatment of his father at Butati Dham, was worried about the short halt of train at Merta Road station and will be next to impossible for him de-board his father.

Impressed with the commitment shown by the rail ministry and other staff Jain said “station master, coolies and railway staff with a wheelchair were waiting at the platform. They helped me and my dad in getting off and escorted me to the gate.”

Extending his gratitude to the station superintendent and other staff of North Western Railway Jain added “I am really surprised by the excellent support extended to me and my family and all of us extend our sincere thanks to North Western Railway chief public relation officer Tarun Jain, Merta Road station superintendent Amar Singh, the coolies and the station staff.”

“I got the tweet from rail ministry and immediately we made sure that railway staff along with wheel chair were available for the person in need at the railway station. Jain and family were taken care at the Merta Road station,” said Tarun Jain, Chief Public Relation Officer, NWR.

Prior to this incidence, RPF personals had rescued a women passenger travelling alone in Maharashtra, when a Passenger Namrata Mahajan pleaded for help after was harassed by male passenger at Shegaon Station, while asking for help she tweeted to railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.
