Anil Kumble quits Mumbai Indians

The Former Indian captain and Chief mentor of Mumbai Indian (MI) Anil Kumble have resigned from the post on Monday 30th November. He was with the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) team since January 2013, during the course of his mentor-ship MI has won IPL and Champions League T20.

The 45 year old Kumble stepped down from the position to pursue other interests in cricket. The player has expressed disagreement on conflicts being a reason of sign off.

Anil in conversation with media correspondents said “I sign off with the obvious satisfaction of molding a set of brilliant individuals to a high performing unit. Over the three years, MI met unprecedented success, winning the IPL twice and the Champions League once, winning both trophies in the same year (2013) being our crowning glory.”

Adding on reason behind the resignation Kumble briefed “I move on to pursue other interests around cricket, I shall be amiss if I do not express my deep sense of appreciation to the Ambani family. The players and my support team (coaching and non- coaching staff) have been an admirable bunch and were a joy to work with. Finally, I thank the MI fans for their constant support. I bid the Mumbai Indians farewell, convinced that I remain a member of the Ambani family.”

A media release published by the IPL franchisee reads “Mumbai Indians is grateful to Anil Kumble, India’s highest wicket taker in both Tests and one day(s) for his contribution in strengthening the Mumbai Indians Franchisee. In his first year as the Mentor, Mumbai Indians won the IPL and the Champions League in 2013. Mumbai Indians won the IPL once again in 2015.”

While the Akash Ambani said, “Mr. Anil Kumble is a legend and we thank him for all that he has done for Mumbai Indians. I have personally learnt a great deal from him and will continue to seek his wise counsel and guidance. We take this opportunity to wish Anil Kumble all the very best in all our endeavors.”
