The legends emerged from Govindgarh, Kaladera, Haripura, and a few villages in Nagaur. The ghostly coiffeuse allegedly trimmed the tresses of its victim and marked them with a ‘tri shool’ (trident symbol), following which the victim is plagued by illness. The incident usually took place in the dead of the night.

The police identified the victims as a middle-aged woman Mani Devi and a 15-year-old Sapna Kumar.

Some called it ‘genie’ while others called it ‘witch’ but we were wondering what made the ‘ghostly spirit’ chop off the innocents’ hair. The police searched high and low for the mysterious Phantom without any success. After interrogation and investigations that lasted for several days, they concluded that there never was a ‘phantom barber.’

During interrogation, the victim from Govindgarh police station admitted to cutting her hair herself. Something similar happened in Gothwalon ki Dhani in Kaladera. The victim ‘Anchi Devi’ complained that a spirit cut her hair when she was sleeping outside her house. Nevertheless, DSP Mahaveer Prasad Chotia found that she was mentally unstable. Two years back, the women set her hair ablaze in her ‘crazy state.’ The police concluded she had chopped off her hair after hearing the rumors on ‘ghostly phantoms.’

The police concluded that the entire episode of ‘ghostly coiffeur’ was nothing but a baseless rumor started by pranksters on social media. The message spread like a forest fire when a few mentally unstable patients cried of ghostly apparitions cutting their hair. Sweeping aside the myths, the police requested the people not to believe these superstitious rumors. The cops will be taking legal action against the offenders who spread such stories on social networks.

So that’s how the mystery of phantom barber was resolved by Rajasthan police.
