Adept, Proactive Rajasthan Creates Rewarding Opportunities for Youth under Raje’s Wings

No Freebies Anymore! CM Emphasizes on Skill Development for Empowering Youths with Sustainable Means of Livelihood.

Education, Skills and Rationality are important pillars of community development, employment and sound economy for a nation. With a large proportion of employees in the age group of 15 to 50 years, Rajasthan is among the ‘youngest’ states in India. It has the potential to become the global powerhouse for skilled workforce, a fact understood by CM Vasundhara Raje, when she took charge in 2004. CM accentuates ‘Skill Building’ as a means to boost investments, improve the efficiency of production and contribute to overall growth of the state. With the aim to empower every individual with appropriate resources to perk up their social status, she had launched the Mission on Livelihoods, in September 2004. To fulfil this mission RSLDC was set up for training 15 lakh youths in different sectors. Relentless efforts of Rajasthan government have facilitated the training of over 1.2 Lakh youths and created more than 9.3 Lakh job opportunities in the state. There’s more to go!

With the Ideology of Creating a Progressive, Independent Workforce for Economic Growth, CM Launched RSLDC.

Philosopher Lao Tsu’s axiom, “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime”, has a deep meaning behind it. In Rajasthan, the preceding Congress government zealously repeated truisms like these without interpreting their actual meaning. For headlong Congress leaders, handing out ‘free fish’ to people in the election year seems a surefire recipe for success. It’s the easiest way to earn votes, but they may not last for a long time.

Raje’s ideology of a progressive state is utterly different from her consociates. She has always believed that helping folks ‘catch fish’ is vastly better and much more efficient than feeding them for a day or the entire lifetime. When you give ‘free fish’ to folks, they don’t know where to find it, how to catch it and how to cook it. They just respond by accepting whatever is handed to them. But, when you teach them how to fish and when the pond runs out of fish, people work hard to obtain other sources of food. Thus, they easily adapt to the changing circumstances around them.

Of course, other politicians do not work in this manner, as developing resources and protocols for training people is a long and tedious process, but CM Raje took the initiative to change this mentality with Rajasthan Skills and Livelihood Development Corporation. This organization was founded in 2009 to ensure training, employment and equal opportunities for all.

Goals were Effectively Set and Fulfilled In Last 2 Years

In last two years, Raje has been able to achieve significant milestones in terms of skill development and employment. Under her watchful eye, Rajasthan has emerged as one of the largest states in terms of MoRD and DDUGKY targets.

Channelizing budgets in the proper direction was a smart move on Raje’s part.

  • Rs. 713 crores were allotted for training 1.15 lakh candidates. Today, 273 Skill Development Centres in Rajasthan run short-term training programmes like ELSTP, DDU-GKY and RSTP in 34 economic sectors. Around 22,144 youths received benefits from live training, as recorded on 30th September, 2016.
  • Rs. 58 crores were invested in 29 Centres of Excellence across the state. 1820 ITIs with 3 Lakh 50 thousand seats, run various NCVT certified vocational programmes for the youth. In last three years, the premium Industrial Training Institutes (ITIes) and ITIs have produced skilled human resource for global Indian market.
  • Rs. 354 crores were spent on LIFE (Livelihood in Full Employment) to prepare youngsters for upcoming professional challenges. Resultantly, 86,000 youths were trained to earn their livelihood.

Rajasthan has made key contributions toward the Skill India Mission. The exact figures of 9.3 lakh jobs created by current Government are as following:

Name of Scheme Youth Benefitted
Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) ( 20% of total benificiaries as fresh entrepreneurs) 132627
PMKVY 132872
Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship (SEE) Fair beneficiaries 142613

Rajasthan Won the Title of ‘Best State in Skill Development’ for 2 Consecutive Years

The Government of India has acknowledged Raje’s efforts in creating a trained hub for meeting the present and future job requirements in a vast array of industries. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has awarded prestigious Gold Trophy to Rajasthan at the ‘Skilling India Summit Cum Awards’ organized by ASSOCHAM. The results of these reformations are evident from the fact that Rajasthan has won this award two times in a row.

After setting bars for employment and livelihood, now the government is working towards raising the quality of living standards. In this regards, Raje’s extensive efforts in preparing youngster for realistic challenges shall prove beneficial for the overall growth of Rajasthan.
