Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje flagged off ‘Olitia’ Rajasthan’s first indigenous tea brand. Olitia, the exotic olive oil tea comes in refreshing lemongrass, olive, Tulsi (Basil) and mint flavors. It isn’t the first time that Rajasthan has indigenously produced an olive by-product. Last year, the desert state of India had launched the first indigenous olive oil brand of India- ‘Raj Olive Oil.’
Rajasthan’s tryst with olives dates back to 2008. Raje government made arrangements for bringing 1.12 lakh saplings to India. Young olive saplings were planted over 182 hectares of land. Seven agri-climatic zones- Bassi, Barore, Bakalia, Bsabasina, Lunkaransar, Santhu and Tinkirudi were selected for mass olive plantation. After nine years of harnessing Israeli olives, the state is all set to reap its benefits now!
