‘Sanju’– the biopic on actor Sanjay Dutt will be going to hit the theatres on 29th June, 2018. Although the sequel of Munna Bhai was expected to be seen this year but it couldn’t happen. The audience can enjoy Rajkumar Hirani’s Sanju. Going by the previous works of Hirani, there are great expectations from this movie too. In fact, the story behind this biopic is interesting.
Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani recently shared in an interview that next version of Munna Bhai film itself made way for the Sanjay Dutt biopic. He shared that how his meeting with Sanjay Dutt after the completion of his jail term made him to work on his biopic. He had gone to meet him for the next Munna Bhai movie. But, Sanjay’s life story fascinated Hirani that someone can actually have a life like his. After this conversation, he got inspired to make a movie.

“I called my co-writer, Abhijat Joshi, and told him the crazy stories I was hearing about. After that, we sat with him for hours over the next 25 days, from early evenings to the wee hours, every day. Then I met former Mumbai police commissioner Rakesh Maria, who had been associated with his case, to know his side of the story. I also met Sanju’s lawyers, family members, friends and others who were part of his life. I am going to show the chapters from his life which are not in the public domain”, says Rajkumar Hirani.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Sanjay Dutt in Sanju. The other stars in the movie are Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Manisha Koirala and Vicky Kaushal.
