Chennai Super Kings led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni has reached the finals yet again and the Mahi fans couldn’t be happier. However, there’s news that may upset them as Captain Cool recently hinted about a possible retirement from IPL. Ahead of the Qualifier match between CSK and SRH, Dhoni told the media persons that many of the players in the Yellow Brigade won’t be playing after two years.
Although his IPL retirement is still a speculation, his statement surely hinted that the aging players may be thinking of saying goodbye to the league. His exact words were:
“The big shift will be after two years, where most of these players won’t be there. Maybe they won’t be fit for the shortest format. Looking at ten years, it has been very good for us.”
It’s a well-known fact that Dhoni has been one of the most successful captains not just for Team India but in IPLs as well. His team CSK has qualified for playoffs in every season and even after making a comeback after two years, the team has been performing extremely well.
This is the 11th Season of the IPL and Dhoni has been leading his team since 2008 which is why it’s understandable that he might be thinking of taking a retirement now. Considering that he has already said goodbye to tests, it’s believable that he might just bid adieu to IPL as well. Although it will be a huge setback for Chennai if Mahi retires, it’s quite impractical for a player to keep playing forever!
Talking about the IPL 2018 Finals, the first qualifier between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad was a pure beauty as it was full of twists and turns. The game was constantly hitting highs and lows with both teams performing at par.
