Ravish Kumar, Senior Executive Editor at NDTV India, resigned “with immediate effect” on Wednesday, a day after Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy resigned as directors of NDTV promoter company RRPR Holding Private Limited.

The channel stated in an internal email that the resignation is effective immediately. “Few journalists have had such an impact on people as Ravish. This is reflected in the overwhelming positive response to him — in the ‘crowds he draws everywhere; in the prestigious awards and recognition he has received, both within India and internationally,” according to the email. “Ravish has been an integral part of NDTV for decades, his contribution has been enormous, and we know he will be successful as he embarks on a new beginning,” said the email.

The Adani group launched an open offer on November 22 to acquire an additional 26% stake in the company, which will end on December 5.

Kumar joined the New Delhi Television Network (NDTV) in 1996 and has worked with its channels ever since. He hosted several news programmes on NDTV India, including Hum Log, Ravish ki Report, Des Ki Baat, and Prime Time. Kumar has received the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award twice, as well as the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2019.

Kumar did not respond to requests for comment.
