Subramanian Swamy demanded to public the ‘Operation Bluestar’ files

The Indian Economist and former Cabinet Minister Subramanian Swamy lately was at Lovely Professional University, Punjab for attending a program. There he stepped into a little controversy when talking to the media reporters there said, “It was a foolish step which was done without proper thinking.” Here he was talking about the ‘Operation Bluestar’ and also demanded to public all the files related to the operation. He said that everything should be transparent and the public shall know what actually happened behind the ‘Operation Bluestar’.

Just so as you don’t know, Operation Bluestar was an Indian army operation which was ordered by the then Prime Minister of the country, Indira Gandhi. The operation aimed at removing the Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his entire armed followers from the Harmandir Sahib Complex situated in Amritsar, Punjab where they had taken residence. He claimed that Jamail Singh Bhindranwale was a religious preacher and said, “”What I knew personally that he was raising voice against narcotics,”

Also, he talked about the military entering into the pious Golden Temple in June 1984. Showing his resistance he said, “I opposed it strongly; most of the Hindus were annoyed with me due to this and I lost an election but I did not bother.”

He added, “Slowly, everyone has realized that the army operation was a mistake,”
