The Angalamman (the God) handed over three stones to the veteran who obeyed every instruction of the GOD. and every stone had its own relevance. The first stone made the hive in the proper condition. The second stone helped in catching fishes which were to be devoted to the mother. The third and the last stone could be used to catch large fishes, which could thereafter be used for sale.

It became a ritual for the fisherman to perform pooja for Angalamman and was assured that he and his future generations will be saved. The ritual continues to date, thus making the festival a big success.

Tens of billions of devotees flock to this temple for seeking the blessings of the Angalamman. There are very intriguing acts and body accessorisation which all visitors indulge in.
