This new poster of Akshay Kumar is making Independence Day 2018 look more promising

The Action King of Bollywood is back in the game – Akshay Kumar arrives again to awe the moviegoers with his new flick – Gold. Though the title is not suggestive of the genre of the film, Gold is a self-acclaimed fictional film but is factually a period film set in the pre-Indian independence era.

The film revolves around the life of a Bengali hockey player who aspires to win a Gold for his country. It depicts the different phases of the life of the player in the customary Akshay Kumar style – simple yet touching.

The filmmakers recently released new posters of the film in two versions – Hindi and English. The poster has Akshay Kumar clad in a grey striped suit, and he is wearing a stony face and a stern look. He is pulling out the Indian flag from his suit. The poster also has the entire team faded on the bottom left corner.

Owing to Akshay Kumar playing the lead role, Farhan Akhtar as producer and Reema Kagti as director, the film has already got high hopes pinned onto it. Clearing the air about the fictionality of the flick, co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani told about the film: “It is not a biopic. It is a completely fictional story but it is set against a real backdrop between 1933-48 India about what the country was, the sports, about hockey. It is not based on any character.”

Farhan Akhtar tweeted, “All victories begin with a dream. It fills me with immense joy to present to you the official poster of #Gold, a film that is very close to my heart.”

Apart from Akshay Kumar, it is the Television beauty diva Mouni Roy who is making her debut with the film. It also features Amit Sadh in the lead roles. Produced by Farhan Akhtar Ritesh Sidhwani, directed by Reema Kagti and co-starring Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy and Amit Sadh, the film will hit the screens on August 15.
