In the 2017 Unnao gangrape case, one of the four associated instances brought by Supreme Court in Uttar Pradesh, the CBI was granted time up to 9 September to finish its inquiry and report on a status report.

District Judge Sharma endorsed the application by the investigative agency for further investigation of the case of Shubham Singh, Naresh Tiwari and Brajesh Singh Yadav. The three of them are on bail.

The female was reportedly raped in two separate events in 2017 when a minor was expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and three males. There was a distinct rape case against Sengar that began on Friday.

The CBI had earlier told the court that the matter was at the final stage of investigation and had sought one week’s time to complete its probe. The court had granted time till August 26 to the probe agency.

The apex court had transferred four criminal cases– the 2017 rape case; an alleged fake matter under the Arms Act against the father of the rape survivor; his death in police custody, and the gang rape of the woman.

Earlier, the Court had denied CBI’s request to finish the enquiry for 30 days and ordered that it submit a status report by 17 August.

The lady, who was then a minor, was supposedly raped on 4 June 2017 by Sengar and on 11 June 2017 by three people.

The female struggles with AIIMS here for life after she and some family members and their lawyer were driven into the vehicle on 28 July. In the accident, two of her aunts died.

Since April 2018, Sengar, a four-time parliamentarian who represents Bangermau in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly, has been held in prison.
