Here’s how Anil Kumble became the new Indian Cricket Team Coach

Indian Cricket team Coach

The Board of Cricket Council in India on Thursday evening announced the name of the new Indian Cricket Team Coach –Anil Kumble. He is a former Indian cricketer and former Indian cricket team captain.  He has been a part of many victories and significant tournaments won by team India in the past. Among other prominent cricketers like Ravi Shastri, Tom Moody, Stuart Law Andy Moles etc who gave interviews to the BCCI in order to become the new Indian Cricket Team Coach, Anil Kumble made the cut.

“Indian cricket team deserves the best coach, BCCI has complete faith in Kumble. It is not about an Indian or a foreign coach, it is about best coach for India,” BCCI president Anurag Thakur told. After the announcement Anil Kumble said, “It’s a huge responsibility, ready to take this role. Coaches come later, it’s always players first. Strategy will be to win.”

“As Kumble transforms himself from a great on the field to becoming a great coach, there is a transition period,” BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke said. “When we say transition, it has to be smooth. This is a professional appointment. As such, we have to cover all our bases. As for the one-year period, Kumble is now transforming himself from being a great on the cricketing field to probably becoming a great coach that we expect him to be. That transition has to be smooth. This is professional appointment. All professional appointments try to cover all bases. Therefore that is the reason we want to be able to be in a position to review our options should there be any need. I am confident that we will not have that need to address that need. That is the exact reason behind the one-year appointment,” he added.

Anil Kumble has always been supportive even after he left cricket. He has also served some administrative roles. He was selected Karnataka State Cricket Association’s president in November 2010. The interesting fact to note here is that initially Anil Kumble was not even included in the list of the favourable options for the position of new Indian Cricket Team Coach. He was later added and who knew would finally make the cut.
We wish him good luck for the future endeavours.
