Arun Jaitley’s kidney transplant surgery gets successful at AIIMS

Few weeks back the news came out that Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is not well and he has been advised rest. In fact, he stopped attending meeting from quite some time. He was diagnosed with some kidney ailment. Arun Jaitley admitted in hospital on Saturday and today, he underwent a successful kidney transplant at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Mr. Jaitley, 65 years, taken to the operation theatre at 8am today. As per the officials, both the donor and the recipient are stable and recovering well. Mr. Jaitley who is suffering from a kidney ailment, has been undergoing dialysis for the last one month.

Finance minister on his ailment before surgery
Finance minister had cancelled his scheduled visit to London for the 10th India-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue. On April 6, he had confirmed his illness related to kidney & certain infections through a tweet. Jaitley did not elaborate but said he was “currently working from controlled environment at home”. He also added that the future course of his treatment would be determined by the doctors.

Previous medical history of Jaitley
Due to his diabetes, Jaitley had undergone a bariatric surgery to treat weight gain in September 2014. Jaitley also had a heart surgery several years ago.
