Curfew In Many Parts Of Kashmir Valley Following Clashes In Anantnag, Shopian

Tensed situation has been continuing in the Kashmir Valley from long. Situation only got from bad to worse and neither government nor the army was able to do anything. Many go injured and army were killed in the violence that erupted after the death of Hizbul Mujahideen Commandar Burhan Wani. Before the Kashmir valley and the people could have settled with the ongoing disrupt in the valley after this incident, another clash broke out between the security forces and the protesters. In the nature’s blessing, the beautiful Anantnag and Shopian districts of Kashmir the clashes broke out on Saturday. Curfew was announced in various nearby areas which continued in many parts of the Valley and paralyzing the normal life of the residents.

21 people were injured in the violence that blew up in Anantnag when protesters staged a rally. A police official said, “The security forces used various crowd control measures to disperse the protesters. Protesters pelted stones at a police post at Herpora in Shopian but there were no reports of anyone getting hurt in the incident so far.”
He added, “Curbs on movement of people had to be extended on Saturday in view of fresh violence in some parts of the Valley on Friday which left three persons dead and over 150 others injured.”

Another police official reported that, “Curfew remains in force in six police station areas of Srinagar, Nowhatta, Khanyar, Rainawari, Safakadal, Maharajgunj and Batamaloo, as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.Curfew was also in force in four towns of Budgam district, Chadoora, Khansahib, Magam and Budgam , Anantnag town and Khanpora area of Baramulla district. Restrictions on assembly of four or more people continue to remain in effect in rest of the Valley.”

Reportedly, 53 people have died so far and and more than 6,000 has been injured in the clashes between protesters and security forces following the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen commander Burhan Wani whose encounter took place on 8th July 2016.

Normal life remained disturbed and upset due to the restrains that has been imposed by the officials and higher authorities and the separatist sponsored strike.

Sources said that business establishments, colleges, schools, petrol pumps , private companies and institutions, banks, public transport and other offices remained shut paralysing the working of the city.

The official said, “Attendance in government offices was also thin. Mobile internet services continued to remain snapped in the entire Valley where the outgoing facility on prepaid connections is barred.
