Emraan Hashmi escapes from a mob attack

Emraan Hashmi recently has to narrowly escape from a mob attack from the shooting of Anthony D’Souza’s upcoming movie ‘Azhar’ which stars Emraan Hashmi in the lead role. The shooting was interrupted by 2000 men who attacked at a shooting venue that is Osmania University in Hyderabad on Sunday Morning. There were plenty of aggressive union members who attacked during the soot.

Anthony admits “we had all the necessary permits to shoot in the university. But there was some kind of miscommunication among the institution’s 32 unions. Nearly 4,000 union members were stationed outside the gates since early morning. It was quite scary.”

The shoot was planned for four days for the courtroom sequence at the university. Though the university’s management was cooperative but the incident was sudden and the leading star Emraan Hashmi wanted to have a word with the agitated crowd but due to security reasons he had been pulled out.

Emraan and Anthony were taken in a room and locked down until the police arrived and escorted them safely while the actresses Lara Dutta, Nargis Fakhri and Prachi Desai were sent back to the hotel while they were on their way to the venue of the shoot.

“It was just not possible to shoot at the University yesterday,” asserts Anthony. Emraan, who had shot for the film in London for over a month, starting August 7 at the Lords cricket stadium, kick-started the Hyderabad schedule of the film, which is based on former Indian captain Mohd. Azharuddin’s life, on November 6. “We are yet to decide on our next plan of action.”

Anthony concluded saying “We will scout for another location for the courtroom sequence and finish shooting the other parts meanwhile. We don’t intend to waste any more dates.”
