Google maps offline mode is now available to download for offline users in India. Now, users can access to Google maps without connected to internet and hep them be on the track.
Google had announced last week that it would begin letting users download entire cities and countries, while also retaining useful turn-by-turn navigation and other useful information, such as businesses’ hours of operation. The feature is still not available in many countries, though the global rollout is ongoing.
With the announcement it was quite evident that the Indian version will launch very soon, as a notable Indian market had steamed up quite a good growth and it is evident in the market. With this initiative Google had made it accessible for the users to get the navigation facility turn by turn each time they are facing internet connectivity or down with no internet.
The news popped in after just a week Google made its first initiative of launching its offline version of Google maps globally.
Google also revealed that it has lowered the minimum app prices in Play Store this month in India including 17 other countries.
Now, Updating the app for Indian users has come at a time when other tech companies like Facebook are showing their dedication to investing in emerging markets like India and Africa, viewing them as a huge potential customer base. Earlier this week, Facebook revealed that it’s partnering with Airtel Africa to bring free access to basic internet services to 17 countries in Africa through its Free Basics program. India is a country that still endures connectivity issues, so offline mode is crucial to Google Maps users in the region.
Well, with this acceleration, Google must focus on the android users who are more in India and thereby offline mode of Google Maps for Android is more in requirement, though the iOS version will also launch in the coming time.
