India-Sri Lanka test series witnessed a dramatic turn-around of team India, where the youth brigade has sealed the Test series, after registering a comprehensive 117 runs win over Sri Lanka in third test played at Sinhalease Sports Club, Colombo. Team India won first test series on Sri Lankan soil after 22 years.

Team India won this test series 2-1. The victory is equally historic for Captain Virat Kohli, as the young leader bags first series away from home. Earlier, he had to face a humiliating defeat against Australia by 2-0 in a series played in Australia, and this definitely comes as a reprieve.

The magical bowler Ravi Chandran Ashwin was awarded Man of The Series title for taking 20 wickets in the series. Cheteshwar Pujara was given Man of the Match title for his unbeaten 145 scored in first inning, which helped India to have an upper hand in the series.

Proud Captain Virat Kohli says,

“Getting back after going down by 1-0 isn’t easy, but thanks to boys for keeping the spirits high and playing a wonderful cricket. A 135 runs partnership between Angelo Mathews and Kusal Perera, pushed us into pressure but thanks to Ashwin and Ishant for bowling them out in a short while. Rain played a tricky role in this test match series and we were it speculative, whether or not we would be able to come out with a result in this decider match,” added Virat Kohli.

However, Sri Lanka at one moment on the final day was looking as if will save the day and win the match, by batting throughout the day. The highest partnership of the match was played between Mathews and Perera of (135 runs), was looking very solid, but eventually failed to stand out for their team.

India had a storming come back in the series, they dominated second test played at Galle, supported with tremendous hundred of KL Rahul, but unfortunately had to shed away Murli Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan, before entering into the decider test match.

Overall a good test series comes to its end with India once again creating a history of grabbing a Test Series against Sri Lanka after 22 years, also it has been first test series win for India after 2011 playing away from home.
